Powell Construction
Professional Remodeler's 2007 Best of the Best Design awards recognize design, quality construction and exceptional value in remodeling projects. Projects were judged with five criteria: aesthetic and visual appeal; value delivered for the price; quality of workmanship; space planning and functionality; and how well problems were solved and challenges met.

Below is featured Powell Construction's winning Bathroom project.

The homeowners had been dreaming for years about turning their master bedroom into an elegant Master Suite. The desire to create a luxurious and soothing, yet sensible space led to the design of this exquisite bathroom.

The existing bathroom in this 1940's Cape Cod home was outdated and cramped.

Our design/build team worked together with the family to come up with the design for the project. We used the roof over the existing covered patio to enlarge the master bedroom, making room for the luxurious private bath.

Design & Function

Recessed niches, an adjustable hand held shower sprayer, and faucets were carefully chosen for their artistry as well as function.

Travertine was also used for the vanity countertop and floor because of its warmth and connection to nature. (photo above)

A custom recessed mirrored medicine cabinet reflects natural light and helps the room appear larger. (photo right)

The same tiles that were used in the shower mural were incorporated into the backsplash and linear accent on the floor. (both photos below)

Innovative Solutions

Richly stained cabinets and ambient light add warmth. (photo above)

Soft his-and-her robes hang on brushed nickel hooks in close proximity to the shower. (photo left)

A handy outlet in the vanity drawer to keep the hairdryer out of sight. (photo above)

A custom cabinet with open shelves conveniently stores towels and candles for a spa-like ambiance. (photo left)

The open layout was maximized by recessing the cabinet into the wall.

A heated travertine floor is wonderful after a hot shower. (photo below)
