When to Remodel
When spring hits, people automatically think construction. It’s like peanut butter and jelly, butter and popcorn, spring and construction.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Maybe you’re feeling a little behind the eight ball. Maybe 2000 is already rushing by you and you’re not quite ready to break ground on that family room addition you’ve been dreaming about. Don’t worry. There isn’t as small a window as you may think.
Most people are surprised to learn that contractors work year round. It’s true that a lot of what we do is weather sensitive, but in all reality there is much that isn’t. If we’re building a new house, for instance, we’ll be sure to want to get the excavation done during a dry week. But this could happen as late as November or as early as February. And once that’s out of the way weather isn’t really an issue.
There are some jobs, in fact, that are ideal for the winter. Interior remodels such as kitchens, baths, or whole house remodels can all be done just as effectively in the winter as in the summer.
So if you’re feeling pressured to get onto your contractor’s schedule for the summer rush, don’t worry. It’s never too late to start your planning. You’re contractor may be just as happy to start your project in the fall or winter and you may actually get better service during this traditionally slower time.
