This cottage was located in a beautiful wooded setting at the end of a road with a creek running by. The old kitchen had metal cabinets, a mobile dishwasher, and posts that interrupted the flow of traffic. The new design has beams to support the ceiling instead of the posts, a built-in dishwasher, custom Alder cabinets and a beautiful Corian countertop.
The oversized, pendant range hood is positioned over the peninsula to service the cooktop as well as provide ideal lighting for the eating bar.
There is a small pass-through to the dining room for serving formal meals conveniently and a casual raised bar for informal meals. In addition to the full kitchen remodel, the project included new hardwood floors throughout the house, installing central heating (previously a wood stove was the sole heating supply), and adding a family room, master suite, and garage.
This handy kitchen desk sits outside the main work triangle, but allows for all the essentials of a modern, home communication center: computer, phone, and message area. Now this farmhouse will be the ideal gathering place for generations to come.
