Guest Basement Apartment, Corvallis:

Envision having flex space in your home for out of town guests, an older relative, or college age children. These homeowners wanted a guest retreat that didn't look like a basement.

This 900 square-foot unfinished daylight basement offered plenty of potential, however there were some significant design challenges. Ducting for the heating system hung overhead, the furnace was poorly placed, and there was a concrete slab floor.

The homeowners invited numerous contractors to take a look at the project and selected Powell Construction because of our ideas for reconfiguring the space. Ductwork was carefully redesigned to be hidden in soffits. Walls were rearranged to take the furnace out of the master bedroom space. Laminate flooring, carpet and tile were used to cover the concrete.

Delta faucet with Venetian Bronze finish and Steller LG HiMacs integrated sink with a standard radius edge.

Tile is used on the bathroom floor and Wilsonart maple laminate flooring in the hallway. You would never know that this all used to be concrete!

Complete with a full kitchen, bath, and laundry room as well as a spacious dining room and living room this guest retreat can be used in a multitude of ways.

A covered patio was added to the exterior entrance to increase curb appeal. This creates some visual interest and at the same time offers protection from the elements when entering the guest apartment from the outside.
