A lot of progress has been made on our project on Hillcrest Drive in Corvallis since our last post. While our skilled sub-contractors are working on interior elements, our lead carpenters have been completing elements on the outside. This over-lapping of trades helps to keep us on track with our tight schedule. On the outside, the smooth finish Hardi-plank siding is up and all the windows and doors have been installed. The roof is completely finished and soon we’ll be working on the trim, gutters, and concrete.
On the inside of the new addition, all the rough plumbing and rough electrical are finished, the drywall and insulation are up, and the wall paintis on. We’ve also hung the interior doors and completed the trim work around all the doors, windows and floors. The new custom bath vanity and medicine cabinets {made of beautiful knotty cherry} are in place as well. Our next steps are to install light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, flooring and hardware.
As is often the case, our clients are living in the home while we do the work. What makes this particular situation more unique is they have a young toddler and the mom-to-be is on partial bed rest with twins. Therefore, we have planned the project to be as minimally invasive as possible. To accomplish this we completed all the second floor and exterior work we could before “breaking in” to work on their existing home.
Now we have begun to build the stairs that will connect the old space with the new, so our carpenters are no longer isolated from the client’s day-to-day. This demands an extra level of awareness to ensure we are efficient, clean, and as quiet as possible, given that it is a construction site.
