This cape-cod style home on Kings Boulevard in Corvallis, lovingly named “Flatlander” by its owner, is undergoing its third transition. In 2001 Powell Construction added a master bedroom suite (see project #106 in our Additions Portfolio). In 2004 we expanded the garage and added a second story shop area (see project #156 also in the Additions Portfolio) to accommodate the homeowners’ annual antique sale known as Nantucket Cottage*. Each project tied in with the cape-cod style of the home and retained the look with careful attention to detail. This new project is all about planning for the future. Two women have combined resources to create an environment where they can share a home yet each enjoy their own privacy. Each week we’ll be updating our blog with photos and descriptions of the progress so you can follow along. We’ve chosen this particular addition to feature on the blog because many folks in Corvallis are familiar with this house on Kings and we’re often asked about it. We also think it’s a great human interest story from the social standpoint of combining two households into one.
