This week our carpenters have installed all 17 new windows and the coordinating exterior trim. In this coming week, exterior paint will be applied to the window trim and corner boards. After that, cedar shingles will start going onto the walls. Typically, we would install all the siding and exterior trim, then have the paint crew arrive. But, for this project we are installing natural cedar shingles for the siding and don’t want to risk getting paint on the shingles. So, all paint is going to happen before we start installing the shingles. On the interior of the additions, the rough electrical work has been completed. In the picture below, the demo-ed kitchen can be seen with many of it’s new amenities. A new window has been framed over the new sink location (note the plumbing under the window opening) and six can lights have been installed in line with the new countertops. Next week, new drywall will be hung throughout the kitchen. There will be a world of difference between this week’s kitchen photo and next week’s! One last look at the master suite addition. In the side yard (pictured below) there will be a small covered porch designed for the homeowner to let her dogs out to the backyard. There will be a second porch on the opposite side of the master suite, which will open into a courtyard, and make a great secluded retreat. These porches will be small compared to the one we will be building on the back of the house. Work will start on this third porch next week.
