This year we celebrated our 35th year in business! We were especially grateful that this milestone year was marked by recognition from many respected industry professionals and design publications. In addition to multiple project-specific awards, Powell Construction was named a 2025 Best of Houzz winner for both Design and Service. With such an abundance of good news, we’re excited to share the award-winners, along with the publication’s comments that speak to what made them exceptional.
Oregon Home magazine hosts its Structure & Style Awards to recognize projects that “embody the unique characteristics Oregon design is known for: ingenuity, understated elegance, and sustainable innovation.” We were thrilled when our Traditional Southern Farmhouse earned top honors in two categories!
1st Category: Major Home Remodel

Recognized for the scope and impact of its transformation, this large-scale addition and remodel was selected in the Major Home Remodel category. Oregon Home highlighted the dramatic reimagining of the home, noting:
“The driving idea behind this project was to create a bright, light-filled home that is classic farmhouse style with more elegant Southern details. What began as an 1980s contemporary ranch was completely transformed through a large second-story addition, full-length front porches, wood-burning fireplaces, multiple French doors, and traditional molding—resulting in a home that feels both timeless and welcoming.”

2nd Category: Outdoor Living
The project also won in the Outdoor Living category, with Oregon Home praising the space as “A hallmark element of Southern farmhouse charm, this wrap-around porch offers the perfect indoor-outdoor transition. Featuring classic round columns, rustic brick accents, and sheltering deep eaves, this covered oasis with a cozy fireplace is the ideal spot for enjoying crisp fall days.”

Qualified Remodeler, a national publication, also honored this outdoor space with a Silver Place Award in its 2025 Master Design Awards. With judges from across the country, the recognition represented a significant achievement.
Kitchen Remodel Category~Winner!
Another standout project, this gorgeous European-inspired farmhouse kitchen—was selected by Oregon Home as the winner in a Kitchen Remodel category. Judges noted, “In a beloved generational farmhouse, this charming kitchen blends nostalgia and modernity. Every detail tells a story—from the cremone bolts to heirloom rugs to a salvaged barn-wood beam. Thoughtful design and craftsmanship create a timeless space that honors the home’s history while inviting the story yet to be written.”

In addition to these awards, we were honored to receive nominations for two additional kitchen remodels, a primary bathroom addition, and a mudroom remodel.
Featured in Cottage & Bungalows
Perhaps the recognition that meant the most to us this year was seeing our own beloved Heidi Powell’s English Cottage project, a kitchen addition and home remodel, chosen to be featured in the fall issue of Cottages & Bungalows. This article is a deeply meaningful testament to Heidi’s life, dreams, and love for design. If you’d like to read the full feature, come by our office to pick up a copy of the magazine.

As we reflect on this milestone year, we’re grateful for the trust of our clients, the creativity of our team, and the opportunity to continue doing the work we love.
