Pumpkins, gourds, a chill in the air, and the vibrant hues of falling leaves…Autumn is here, and we’re soaking in the beauty of the season! Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away and with all the preparations for the perfect meal, our thoughts are turning to styling our tables to create that warm and inviting ambiance that captures the feeling of harvest.
We were inspired by the colorful foliage and produce that is abundant this time of year and wanted to share a gorgeous yet simple tablescape that we put together. A stroll through nature provided all the elements we needed to make this holiday table a feast for the eyes!
For this centerpiece, we aimed to create an arrangement that looks effortlessly natural yet artfully designed. We began with a neutral runner which served as a base to protect the table. For a soft, ambient glow, we arranged antique brass candlesticks in a staggered layout, varying the heights for visual interest and balance.
Next, we layered in foraged oak and dogwood branches which showcase a medley of vibrant turning leaves. Nestled into the branches are seasonal gourds, apples, and pumpkins of all sizes and colors. The warm oranges and reds blend beautifully with the bright leaves. Pops of cream and blue pumpkins speak to the stoneware plates which we placed on simple rattan mats.
Scattered throughout the branches are rosy-tinged hydrangeas, autumn joy sedum, and the deep brown hues of curly dock, gathered from the field. These accents harmonize beautifully to provide a rich blend of textures and a cohesive color palette. As a finishing touch, we centered a single pear on each plate. They add a mellow note of warmth and serve as the perfect prop for place cards.
This type of tablescape is one of our favorite ways to decorate for Fall because there are endless options for this creation…For a different look, consider swapping candles for jar lanterns, or using a low basket that allows the natural elements to spill over. Try tucking some pinecones and acorns into the mix! Foraging through forests and gardens, visiting local pumpkin patches and farmers’ markets will yield an array of materials that reflect the warm colors of the season, making it almost impossible to go wrong. We hope that you are inspired to go for that walk and gather some of the beauty of nature to bring to your table!
