Bathroom Remodel with Walk-In Closet
— CORVALLIS, OR —
Our clients’ main goals were to lighten and brighten their bathroom space, and to create a contemporary yet classic look that would remain beautiful for decades to come. Before the remodel, the floor and countertops were covered with a black slate that gave the space an enclosed feeling. The homeowners described it as “cave-like.” All new finishes and a slightly modified floor plan brought about a total transformation.
More about this project
The new space is much brighter and more inviting. The walls are painted with a soft-white and light French-gray paint combination. Light-colored porcelain tiles (DalTile’s “Fabrique”) on both the bathroom floor and exterior shower walls tie the space together and create a sense of openness. A floor-to-ceiling glass wall between the shower and bathroom contains water spray while allowing full light transparency from the large picture window in the shower.
We removed a wing wall that once separated a seated vanity area from the sinks to create one large, open vanity area. The custom maple cabinets with a dark stain finish and two Kohler semi-vessel sinks on the vanity gave the clients exactly what they wanted – more elbow room and an exquisite contemporary look.
Custom-made mirrors match the vanity and are harmoniously balanced by a light colored and dramatic backsplash. Our clients fell in love with the glass mosaic backsplash tiles from Oceanside Glass. The Caesarstone “Pebble” countertops provide the perfect balance to the overall scheme.
We also remodeled the closet space adjacent to the master bath. Even though it was a walk-in closet, it felt cramped and under-utilized. There were many different shelves and compartments, but none of them actually suited the clients’ needs, and the surfaces were a dingy beige melamine that the clients didn’t like. We took our clients’ needs to heart – diligently reviewing all the things to be hung, folded, stacked, and stored in the new closet – and designed the perfect custom closet for them.
This well-organized space now allows easy access to their wardrobes while keeping clutter at bay. The dark stained maple cabinets accented with chrome hardware coordinate perfectly with the new vanity in the bathroom. Their new closet is now a beautifully luxurious and highly functional space.
