A Loft and Kitchen Renewed
— CORVALLIS, OR —
Kitchen remodeling isn’t always just about the kitchen. This home, built in the 80’s, had an unfortunate stair leading to a loft, right in the middle of the house. We relocated the stairs and expanded the kitchen to take advantage of the views and allow for multi-generational entertaining.
More about this project
These homeowners dreamed of a new kitchen for many years. They especially liked the look of Biedemeier cabinetry and wanted to include it in their home. By turning around the cabinet doors we came up with a creative solution to mimic this high-end look. The new kitchen features stained maple cabinets. The countertops are “Polished Mosaic” by Wilsonart with a black granite gem loc edge. The pendants are by Murray Feiss. The pulls are by Amerock.
This kitchen has lots of special details, like this custom countertop that folds up when extra countertop space is needed. There is lots of hidden storage in this kitchen such as the shelves tucked away under the eating bar. Built-in stepping stools allow a shorter person to reach upper cabinets and allow grandchildren to help in the kitchen! This Futuro Futuro Murano Motion hood was the homeowner’s “splurge.” It’s a unique piece and adds drama to this lovely space. Some things are just worth waiting for!
