Traditional Southern Farmhouse Interior Remodel

Historic style trim work and white oak flooring serve as the foundation of this home’s timeless aesthetic. The warm white walls create a serene backdrop, allowing treasured heirloom rugs and artwork to shine. Maximizing natural light was key to the design, and with numerous windows on every exterior wall, the home is bathed in sunlight throughout the day. These windows offer sweeping views of the surrounding farmland.

The home’s original sunken sunroom was removed, making room for a spacious expansion of the living room. This allowed for the installation of a stunning double-sided fireplace framed by French doors, enhancing both the visual appeal and the functionality of the space. The living room was creatively designed to accommodate a grand Steinway piano while maintaining an inviting, balanced scale that wouldn’t feel cavernous.

A standout feature of this living room is the custom-designed wood mantle, which showcases classic detail work. This element adds a layer of craftsmanship to the space, anchoring the room with a captivating focal point. This is a perfect example of how custom features can enhance the beauty and character of a home.

The dedicated dining room, situated just off the living room, is a true highlight with its exquisite trim work and abundance of windows. A grand, nature-inspired chandelier hangs gracefully below a decorative ceiling medallion, adding a touch of sophistication to the space.

A gorgeous open staircase was  positioned at the back of the home, opening to the living room. This placement allows it to be a striking element that doesn’t dominate as it may have in the entryway. Beneath the staircase, a custom-built bookcase was created, offering a perfect space for storage and display, showcasing books, piano music, family treasures, and decorative objects. A distinctive brass statement pendant adds warmth and elegance to the stairwell.

The former laundry room was transformed into a spacious and practical mudroom complete with a large industrial sink—an essential feature for a working farm. At the back of the mudroom, we added a toilet and shower area, designed to serve as an additional guest bath. The shower can also be utilized as a convenient dog-washing station.
