Kitchen, Dining, and Covered Patio

This active family longed for an open and bright great room where they could gather. The former kitchen was relatively dark and was not visually well-connected to the adjacent family room. The newly remodeled kitchen is completely open to the family room, and the refrigerator is now at a more convenient location for both rooms. New custom cabinets update and brighten the kitchen, extending to the ceiling for added storage. Quartz countertops with an undermount sink, new faucet, and updated appliances create an elegant, refreshed look.

While the sink remained in the same place – saving on plumbing costs – some appliances were relocated. The island offers dining within the kitchen, lit by colorful glass pendant lights. Its split-level design separates the food prep area from the bar seating. A custom desk with hutch makes organization and planning a breeze.
The adjacent dining area is within easy proximity of the kitchen. Its angled orientation brings interest to the spaces. A pantry and built-in dining buffet provide additional storage. Textured glass at the pantry door and dining room buffet cabinet add an element of visual interest.
During the kitchen remodel, we also renovated the outdoor living space, creating a seamless connection between the two areas. This family wanted a large outdoor area to enjoy together – a place where they could gather for meals, barbecues, or an evening fire. This new spacious patio offers plenty of shade during hot summer days as well as protection from rain. The richly stained cedar ceiling adds drama to the space, while the skylights and exposed beams give an airy feel. A large ceiling fan helps the patio stay cool even on the hottest days, and a propane-fueled fire pit provides warmth on a cool evening or autumn afternoon.
Sheltered from the rain and sun, the outdoor living room is furnished much like an interior room, complete with indoor-outdoor rugs. Combined with the outdoor living space, the interior renovations have been dramatic changes for the house, all improving livability and increasing the home’s value!
